Welcome to the 2024 Year of Cricket!
As we step into the new year, it’s time to look forward to another exciting year of cricket. The year 2023 was filled with memorable moments, and 2024 promises to be even more thrilling.
Reflections on 2023
Last year, we saw some significant improvements in the cricketing world. Usman Khawaja had a fantastic year, scoring over 1000 runs for the second consecutive calendar year. The inaugural Women’s Premier League tournament delivered high-octane games, with Harmanpreet Kaur’s Mumbai Indians facing off against Meg Lanning’s Delhi Capitals in the final.
However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. West Indies had a tough year, failing to qualify for the 50-over World Cup for the first time in their history. These challenges have led to introspection and a renewed focus on improving performance.
Looking Forward to 2024
The year 2024 is set to be an exciting one for cricket fans. The Indian cricket team has a full fixture of tours and series, including match dates and venues for both the men’s and women’s teams. The Australian summer of cricket will feature six Tests, nine ODIs, and nine T20Is at 11 venues across seven cities.
The IPL 2024 is also on the horizon, with new players and teams ready to make their mark. The year will also see the first home matches of the new World Test Championship cycle for the Australian men’s team.
